uShaka Marine World
There aren't many places in the world like uShaka Marine World, at which you could find a water park that will bring hours of fun and relaxation to anyone in touch with their inner child as well as a replica of a 1940's shipwreck and a restaurant at which you can eat dinner while watching sharks swim past you in an adjacent tank. Throw in a world-class aquarium at which you can meet some of the world's most "fa-sea-nating" creatures, and you've got a great day out for the whole family. Moses Mabhida Stadium
One of the newest icons on Durban's skyline, Moses Mabhida Stadium was constructed for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. If you're looking for a dose of Durban-based adrenaline, you can get yourself a ticket for the Big Swing, which is a jaw-dropping bungee jump from the top of the stadium. Looking for something more sedate? You can ride the SkyCar to the top of the stadium's arch and enjoy some breathtaking views of the city. Or, if you're looking for a way to get in some rigorous cardio, you can take on the Adventure Walk, in which you will climb the 550 steps from the ground to the top.
Botanic Gardens
Durban's 15-hectare Botanic Gardens were established in 1849, making them South Africa's oldest gardens. Here you'll find an assortment of palms, cycads and orchids, as well as an assortment of different types of gardens, including a garden for the senses, a sunken garden and a butterfly habitat garden.
Mitchell Park
Mitchell Park is a firm favourite with Durban's children, as it has an assortment of jungle gyms, swings and roundabouts - including facilities custom-designed for disabled children. There is also a zoo at which they can meet a variety of small animals and birds. There can be few better places in Durban to enjoy a family picnic than on Mitchell's Park expansive lawns.
